My name is Joshua Torrence Medlin and I was born and
raised in Tulsa Oklahoma. I am 21 years old, have 4 younger brothers,
and have a 4 year old chocolate lab female. I can still remember my dad
and grandpa taking me squirrel hunting and fishing when I was 3 or 4 years
old. This instilled the respect and love for the outdoors I still have
today.
When I was
8 my step dad took me duck hunting and from the moment that first duck
came in I knew I was hooked for life. Being able to inspect every mallard
and wood duck that they shot while sitting on the bank of a timbered slough
still lingers today when I shoot my own ducks, geese, turkeys, deer, or
whatever game I may be chasing.
When
I turned 16 and could go hunting on my own duck hunting went from being
a hobby to a passion and addiction. I now blow in duck calling competitions
for Betts game calls and in goose competitions for GK calls. I hunt for
waterfowl 70-80 times a year and also turkey hunt in the spring and deer
hunt in the fall before season and during breaks.
Overall
I'm in the field over 100 days a year not including fishing. I mostly
duckhunt in Timber and small potholes but also frequent large lakes, rivers,
and marshes when duck numbers dictate. I also goose hunt quite a bit in
wheat fields, soybean fields and on large watersheds. When not hunting
I attend Oklahoma State University majoring in business management and
marketing. |

Buehler from Ohio |
I
was born and raised in NW Ohio near Toledo which is on the SW shores of
Lake Erie and its many famous bays and marshes including Sandusky Bay
and Magee Marsh just to name a few. I am married with 2 daughters and
1 on the way. I had an interest in hunting at a very early age and began
going along with my uncles deer hunting at the age of 13 as a spectator.
At the age of 14 I began bowhunting with them. It was also that fall that
a neighbor took me waterfowl hunting for the first time. From that moment
on and that lone shot I fired to take my first duck, a hen wood duck,
a waterfowler was born. During those first few years I began to obsess
over geese and how difficult they were for me to hunt and started to dedicate
myself to goose hunting. Today that passion for waterfowl still burns
inside of me and it seems not a moment goes by that I don’t find
myself having “Fowl” thoughts of some kind or another. I am
in the field nearly every day of the season even if only for an hour after
work. When goose season isn’t in you can find me duck hunting and
when neither duck or goose season is in you can find me walleye fishing
wishing it was waterfowl season. |
